About Me

I began using photography as a means of expression around 1981, while attending Johnson State College, Vermont, where I received a B.F.A. in Studio Arts. Currently I am working on my MFA in Photography at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. I also teach traditional black and white photography at Lyndon State College, Vermont. Working with students and exposing them (pun intended) to the art of darkroom photography is both challenging and inspirational.

I love to play with different film types and printing techniques. I shoot film as well as digital and I have a darkroom where I process my own black and white and alternative photographic processes. Subjects that interest me range widely. I love to travel and to discover. My portfolio consists of castles and barns, portraits and color abstractions. When asked 'What kind of photographer are you?', I respond 'Artist!'.

Photographing people, whether for a wedding or a portrait, always has an element of fun in it. Sure, you have to think about the technical aspects, like light and composition, but for me, I want to capture that spark, a little piece of life, the spirit of the subject. We can't do that if we aren't having fun!

Photography isn't a job or a career, it is a passion, a different way to view the world, it is in my heart and soul. As long as there is light, I will chase it.
