This project started, like most of my work, with one idea. It then went down a few different paths and eventually solidified as the family portraits you see here. The concept revolved around me wanting to tell a story about my immediate family; my mother and three sisters. For the backgrounds, I used photographs taken on my travels, added old photos of myself and family members, and then scanned different objects that worked into the story. You will also notice that all the figures are in some sort of frame, which refers to the traditional family photo on the wall but put it in a different context. The actual story behind each family member is not revealed to the view with the hope that each person will come up with their own ideas.
